To Those Who are Planning to Become Pregnant

“The thought of pregnancy is the first step towards motherhood”

While some pregnancies are planned quite well and have a good control from the beginning to the end by a physician; unfortunately this is not possible in many.

The fact that the mother-to-be conscious before pregnancy and willingness to decide on pregnancy will prevent many disorders that may occur during pregnancy.

Sometimes, after a completely unexpected (accidental) pregnancy, especially the first three months of pregnancy can pass with a difficult adaptation problem. However, after the pregnancy is psychologically accepted, a relief is felt and many of the problems will be resolved. The most common mistake made here is to decide urgently and end the pregnancy with an abortion.

If you are considering a pregnancy;

It is useful to go to your doctor and get examined before getting pregnant. Many problems with your genital area will be fixed after the examination. Because, many treatment methods and drugs cannot be applied during pregnancy due to their negative effects on your baby.

Having some pre-pregnancy tests will be very convenient for your pregnancy follow-up.

These tests:

  • These tests:
  • Pelvic ultrasonography
  • Complete urinalysis
  • Complete blood count
  • Routine biochemistry (Fasting blood sugar, urea, creatinine, SGOT, SGPT),
  • Bleeding profile (Bleeding and clotting times, APTT, PTT, fibrinogen)
  • TORCH tests (Toxoplasma, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes)
(if necessary) can be summarized as serum B12 and folic acid levels.

However, if some problems have occurred in your previous pregnancies or if the parents have previously had systemic diseases, more special tests may be requested by your doctor. In this case, your pregnancy will be in the "risky pregnancies" group.

If you have dental problems before pregnancy, it is useful to deal with them in advance. Because these problems may increase with your pregnancy.

If you have problems related to breeding, such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures before pregnancy, it will provide you comfort during your pregnancy.

Folic acid pills, which started about 3 months before conception and used for at least the first 4 months of pregnancy, will protect your baby from a group of conditions called “neural tube defects”. Therefore, it is beneficial to use pills containing folic acid before pregnancy. Consult your doctor about the usage and dosage.

Make sure that your psychological condition is also good before you become pregnant.

Pregnancy is not just a uterus and a baby growing in it. It is a process that will affect your mental state as well as all the systems in your body. Hormones secreted during pregnancy can make you more irritable, tense and distressed. Therefore, it is extremely important that you are ready for pregnancy and feel psychologically sufficient.

If you are unable to conceive despite a regular relationship for at least a year, consult your physician. You may have infertility (infertility) problems.

Your first condition when choosing your doctor is to trust him/her

The most ideal for your pregnancy follow-up is to have a single physician you can trust and have experience in. Changing many physicians will have a negative effect on you. When choosing your doctor, make sure that you have someone who you believe will give birth and have an experienced experience.

There will be a bond of trust between you and a doctor who monitors your pregnancy from beginning to end in time, thus reducing your anxiety about your birth, especially in your last months.

When choosing your doctor, evaluate the questions such as whether it follows the latest innovations in medicine, whether it provides satisfactory and sufficient answers to your questions, whether it gives you sufficient time, whether you can reach it comfortably at any time, or if the workplace is hygienically and technologically equipped.
