Increasing and Recurrent Vaginal Fungi with Summer Season

How Can We Prevent Infections?

If three or more genital candida (fungal) infections are experienced per year, we can talk about recurrent vulvo vaginal candidiasis (WCC). In this group of patients, it is very important to take preventive measures so that the disease does not recur after treatment. What are these protective measures?

  • Prefer COTTON underwear, not nylon.
  • Prefer not narrow, WIDE trousers.
  • Never wash the vagina with water or soap.
  • Wash the external genital area with water, not soap.
  • Use CONDOM as much as possible in sexual intercourse.
  • Avoid unhygienic TOILET and SWIMMING POOLS.
  • If the partner has an infection, warn him about absolute partner treatment.
  • Regularly go to the gynecologist examination.

Vaginal infections (vaginitis) are one of the most common causes of gynecologist referrals. The complaint of vaginal discharge is one of the most common symptoms of referral to gynecology outpatient clinics. With the deterioration of genital hygiene, the normal vagina flora is impaired and pathogenic microorganisms can settle in these areas, causing vaginal discharge, itching, and even infertility. For this reason, vaginal infections should be recognized early, treated and determined if the normal flora changes. Normal flora can be detected only in 30-35% of patients presenting with vaginal discharge. The most common infectious vaginitis agents are bacterial (gardanella) vaginitis, candida (fungus) vulvuvaginitis and tricomonas infections.

According to the results of the vagina culture taken in the patient with symptoms, using the appropriate antibiotics at the appropriate time will ensure the treatment. But the main issue here is that microorganisms gain resistance with improper antibiotic use and recurrent vaginal infections. Recurrent vaginal infections should not be forgotten, but at another point, evaluation of the spouse and treatment if necessary. In addition, Probiotic is extremely helpful in the treatment of recurrent vaginal infections.

Probiotics; When used in sufficient doses, it can be defined as living microorganisms that provide health benefits in the host. The vagina in women producing estrogen is equipped with microorganisms called vaginal microbiota, it is a dynamic environment. The most important part of the vaginal flora in healthy women consists of Lactobacillus. Lactobacilli show protective effects against pathogens with effects such as regulation of immunity, production of antimicrobial agents and reduction of vaginal pH.

The use of vaginally administered probiotic capsules is an effective method to increase the content of local lactobacilli. For the efficacy of probiotics in oral form, it is necessary to have the capacity to reach the rectal area for preserving structural integrity during passage through the intestine and colonization in the vaginal region. Although it seems logical to give probiotics directly through the vaginal route, studies show that oral (oral) administration is also effective in the growth of lactobacilli in the vagina. Direct vaginal administration may be preferred in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis. However, oral use is thought to be more effective, especially in terms of long-term protection and prevention of recurrence.
